About Redwood Materials Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2019, we're delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have. Essential Duties: Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Industrial Engineer Intern to support commercial scale production and process optimization during
Summer 2026 . This individual will assist multiple teams on continuous improvement projects across internal and external material movement, manufacturing processing lines, and business processes.
Responsibilities Will Include: - Monitor, evaluate, and analyze current systems and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop and implement process improvement strategies using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Conduct and audit time and motion studies (work measurement) to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with teams to design and improve systems and processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Prepare and present reports on improvements and operational performance.
Desired Qualifications: - Current undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, industrial, systems, etc).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other improvement methods.
- Background in operations research a plus (eg: linear programming, simulation, etc).
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Detail-oriented with an analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
- Experience with statistical data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Software proficiencies: Microsoft Office, 2D CAD, any linear programming software, discrete event simulation software.
